Suzy, I left a comment in episode 7. The reason why you felt she didn't catch on was because the Author had to write her out of the story.
The author, Tsugumi, actually made a mistake about Naomi. He wanted to keep her in all the following episode, but he accidentally made her too smart. He wrote himself into a corner.
So blame the Author. haha Someone please tell Suzy this.

I think L's thought process as he was watching the Yagami family was, from beginning to end.
L: *watches Yagami household* "Hmm dirty mags, that's obviously typical for a boy his age. Hm, his response to the newsbroadcast was very intellectual, and at the same time, it's as if he were taunting me. Now the whole family is loving out a typical boring family night, typical dinner, typical bed time, typical... Studying... Why does everything seem so typical? It could just be an extremely typical night but something just feels off..."
At least that's what I feel like he was thinking xD
