But yeah, it seems pretty incompetent of them to not see this coming when Captain of squad 12 research and development Mayuri Kurotsuchi would certainly know how vulnerable someone passing through the Dangai would be to Hueco Mundo. Soul Society may just not have seen Orihime as a potential target. It would have been efficient to send 2 or 3 Captains as reinforcements WHILE escorting her though... kinda weird that they didn't. Maybe they didn't want to risk personnel to protect her. It probably all just happened too fast for anyone at Soul Society to consider the risk of Orihime getting attacked in the Dangai. If anyone should have seen this coming, it was Urahara. Suzy may have been onto something when she said that Urahara had a vague premonition that she may be targeted, I hadn't considered that until she said it.

Yes, exactly this. They are fighting at unimaginable speeds unperceivable to the naked eye, the footage basically just gets slowed down so the audience can actually see what is happening. That being said, idk how it is in the manga but in the anime it looks really stupid because Ichigo puts the mask on then just stands there talking for a few seconds lmao. Talking shouldn't be in super speed, so that means time should be moving normally when he is talking and he wasted a few entire seconds talking. These are just classic anime things, though. You gotta accept time dilation.
