Kakuzu's battle with the first Hokage is actually a big part of his story but it's never actually explained in the show so I hope you don't mind reading it here: Kakuzu used to be an elite shinobi of the Hidden Waterfall village and he was ordered to assassinate the first Hokage. However, Kakuzu lost and returned to his village, severely injured. But instead of helping him, his village was angry at him for failing and locked him up. Enraged, Kakuzu broke out and used the forbidden technique he's using now (which is called Earth Grudge Fear btw). He then stole the hearts of his village elders and left. Being betrayed by his own village left Kakuzu unable to trust other humans, hence why he said the only thing you can rely on in this world is money.
Lol well now you know why people always want you to skip most filler. Canon is 100x better, and shippuden will just continue to get better from hear on out. Certain filler episodes are good to watch.
After this arc comes THE BEST written filler arc in anime history so please Suzy watch it you will see a lot of characters getting more screentime(no spoilers !!)
This was my favorite arc in shippuden up to this point even though Lady chiyo imo was a way better character than Asuma ever was. But just to warn after this arc going forward you may want to forget the makeup all together
I'm looking forward to the major Naruto fight against the big bad. That's when I quit the series. The animation was horrible. I'm curious of Suzy's opinion.
