Sasha was empowered by Ymir's words and saved a little girl because of it. That's what the flashback was for. To show us WHO it was that embedded confidence in Sasha. Ymir and obviously Sasha's father had a great impact on what she managed to do in Episode 2. Ymir did what she did to get Connie's mind off of his mom, as Reiner said. Ymir's a brutally honest person, but if at this moment all you're getting out of it is "she's a bitch" then you're gravely misunderstanding the message these 4 episodes have given you. Not everything should be taken at face value.

Ymir didn’t have a choice, if she didn’t fight back the tower would collapse and they would all get eaten. Also Ymir was making fun of Connie because she wanted to make conny feel better and make him forget about how he thinks his mom is a titan.

Ymir does kind of come off as bitchy but I think if you look deeper she really has good intentions behind her actions.

Ymir was only teasing Connie, she tried to take his mind off the fact that he thought his mum was a titan. Remember they all trained together and are really good friends, trust me your opinion of Ymir will change soon enough
