It was indeed cool AF when time stopped for Ichigo and Zangetsu appeared and walked towards him. Bleach is full of badass imagery like that, it's sooooo good.
And just to repeat what Kenpachi said earlier because it is an important concept, the reason Ichigo was unable to cut Kenpachi was because the Spiritual Pressure that naturally surrounds Kenpachis body was so strong that Ichigo's Spiritual Pressure could not cut through it at all. It was like trying to cut through metal armor with a butter knife. It's a bit abstract, but Spiritual Pressure is basically just a souls inner power being released during a battle. In the same way that your hand would bleed if you punched a brick wall, Ichigo's hand took damage from the collision of their Spiritual Pressures since his was far weaker.
Then, by forging a stronger bond with his Zanpakuto, Ichigo's Spiritual Pressure increased and Ichigo was able to cut through Kenpachi's spiritual pressure. Kenpachi's eyepatch consumes his spiritual pressure to limit how much is released, so once he took it off his Spiritual Pressure also increased.

It’s important to note that they don’t name their swords, the swords already have names. Part of a soul reaper’s training is learning to hear the voice of the spirit inside their swords. This allows them to learn their swords name and forge a bond with it so they can grow stronger together. As was mentioned by Zangetsu and Ichigo, Kenny can’t hear his Zanpakuto’s Spirit, so he doesn’t know anything about his sword and doesn’t bother to try. Yet he’s still this powerful
