in japanese its pronounced gets-ga ten-cho and in english its get-su-ga ten-cho
It’s Getsuga Tenshō in both English and Japanese. Ten means heaven Shō means Impact or pierce Tenshō means heaven piercer. Tencho means store manager. The Japanese VA drops the u when shouting, but says the whole thing when talking to Byakuya

Everyone is different I suspect, but no, I don't write names down when watching anime. I just pronounce it based on how I hear it said, and typically I can do this after hearing it just once. I do that for subbed anime too. I just read the name in the subtitles and wait for another character to say the name out loud. If the name is said out loud a few times, usually I will memorize the sound automatically and who the name belongs to.

Sometimes if a Japanese name is less unique (Bleach has very unique names though) I will have to repeat the name in my head (or out loud) 2 or 3 times after hearing it to form a memory of the name. Repetition is a basic but very effective memorization strategy. You should try repetition strategies, it's easy and takes little time. In your case, I would also recommend learning how the name is spelled and writing it down a few times to see if that helps. Knowing how it's spelled could help a lot with pronunciation. Your pronunciation of the names in Bleach that you have actually memorized are surprisingly good, you say almost all of them perfectly.

For you, I think it's just that you have a hard time memorizing the sounds that compose Japanese-styled names. I've watched your reactions for years starting with Naruto, and that's my personal conclusion. It's not that strange considering you don't speak Japanese, but I would say you struggle to memorize words based on sound alone more than the average person. Individual people have different strong suits for how they memorize things, though.

There is a widely known psychological theory for this that I'm familiar with because I myself used it to successfully memorize things. It's called the VAK learning model, and even some schools use it to form their curriculums. Visual = learning through sight (reading how a name is spelled), Auditory = learning through sound (hearing a name), and Kinesthetic = learning through physical movement or hands-on experience (writing a name down repeatedly, or saying a name out loud - or in your head). We know auditory is likely not your strong suit (at least not for Japanese), so you could try visual and kinesthetic methods of memorization. That's why I suggested non-auditory methods before. Seeing how the name is spelled, writing it down, and repeating it out loud or in your head. Anyway, prob wasted my time writing all of this lol, but maybe you will see it and it might help you. I 100% believe you are capable of memorizing all of the names of these characters if you find the right strategy that works for you. Good luck. ❤
You'll find out why Yoruchi disappear later on the episodes. The same as Urahara. Why are they on Earth instead of Soul Society? ( no spoilers...)

GETUGA TENSHOU! (Geht-Su-Gah Ten-Shoẃ)

I know you don't read comments due to potential spoilers, but this is the pronunciation if you happen to see this anyway.
