Plot was really on Sasuke's side in this battle to be honest. Deidara's Explosion-style is a Kekkei Genkai that combines Earth-style and Lightning-style, but it doesn't make sense why earth would have anything to do with explosions. Everyone agrees it should be Fire-style and Lightning-style but he had to have earth so Sasuke could have an advantage over him.
Everyone agrees? I don't. It makes more sense for it to be earth. First of all, how do you think explosives work? Gunpowder for example is made of minerals from the EARTH. Secondly, Deidara literally uses detonating clay. Clay is also from the Earth. Thirdly Deidara is from the hidden stone village. I agree that Sasuke was lucky plotwise however. Although in general Sasuke has a VERY good tool kit and intellect to deal with his opponents so this isn't that surprising.
Can't believe you compared Deidera to Yusuke, although Sasori viewed art as turning humans into puppets I think he called it eternal beauty while Deidera views art as an explosion. Yusuke was way more normal compared to those two as artists paint or draw their emotions or portray something that represents that emotion and that is art and set up in art galleries.
