I mean even before she never seem that good so I would not refer the hate only for this chapter tho
This single moment (along with this arc) is when the Sakura hate from the fanbase increased exponentially...
Oh what I would give to see the initial "narusaku" reaction to his part of the manga. i'm sure it was epic

Even as a NaruSaku fan (still am btw), this just seemed shady from the start. My stance on this has always been the confession wasn't genuine, but the explanation was. Sasuke does nothing but hurt her while Naruto does nothing but help her. That's what she said and I don't see the lie there. She is deeply hurt by what he does but is deeply grateful for Naruto's support. Either way, I fucking hate that this is the best plan of action Kishimoto had for Sakura. I really just hate what this arc did to her. She already wasn't that great of a character, but it's like Kishimoto can only demean her. It's ridiculous.
This war arc is going to be amazing. If Itachi isn't on your top 5 list, than you might want to reserve that statement until the end of the series.
Our boi Naruto has finally grown up. She really believed that she would beat the master of Talk no Jutsu with his own power. Pathetic. Even Kakashi saw through that lie and he did it without the Sharingan.

You know when you said that " why there are so many sakura haters, she's awesome", Everyone kept their mouth shut and waited so that you can truly start to hate her from this episode onwards. The author sacrificed sakura's potential to focus purely on sasuke .Now nobody would even complaint if sasuke decides to kill sakura
Gotta take in mind her side though, this was basically a really desperate move to convince Naruto on giving up on Sasuke so he wouldnt suffer more because of him or the promise he made to her, also that Sai went overboard by basically putting a lot of blame on her for Naruto's suffering, to the point of even saying it was similar to a curse mark, which was just too much.

I dont agree with what she did, but i can understand why, also just think about how she feels, the person you love has become a monster, while your friend who is in love with you is constantly putting himself in danger and suffering because of that person and also a promise he made to you regarding that person, thats a lot of pressure, emotions like Love, Guilt and Desperation are really strong, and Sakura is basically riddled with all at the same time, even more after what Sai said to her, you could clearly see it in her face after her conversation with Sai, and even more here.

Also the fact that she is nowhere near the level of power of Naruto or Sasuke, so she cant help much either in that regard, you are basically seeing a really desperate person that is willing to lie to her friend and even herself, if you wanna put the blame on someone its on Sasuke, he is the main cause of whats happening to Naruto and Sakura right now.
Yup this person gets it. Also she wasn't fully lying either. Sakura does love Naruto very much as well. of course it's more of a platonic brother/sister love. It was an act of desperation because of the pressure her peers are putting on her added to the misguided thoughts that Naruto was just doing all this for her. Sakura Haters in my opinion are still the most shortsighted people in the Naruto fandom. Does she do a whole lot throughout the series? not really. But the things she does are pivotal to the overall story and without her things would end up very different. This was definitely a mistake on her behalf but its not something to condemn her for.
It’s quite remarkable how deep and complex Sakura’s emotions are. Particularly considering how shallow and superficial her “love” for Sasuke is.
Although my feelings on Sakura aren't exactly positive. I don't think her love for Sasuke are superficial at this point in series. Especially when she was willing to risk her life for him when Gaara attacked him. Contrived for sure but not superficial in the way Naruto feels for her.
she quite literally knows next to nothing about Sasuke other than his appearance. That she is willing to not only risk her life but go with him and commit who knows what crimes when he first left the village, because of his looks doesnt make it any less superficial.
