Please DON'T watch the Boruto movie. The anime did a better job with that arc. In the movie they left out a lot of detail about the things that happen during the arc and those things are going to be importatant later in the anime.

Now follows the "Ootsutsuki" filler arc from episode 460 - episode 469 (except episode 463 which is canon) which is also definitely worthwhile. They are just fillers like the Itachi arc, but they explain the story of Rikudou Sennin, Ashura and Indra.

And from 470 on the story finally continues.

But it's definitely worth watching the filler episodes from 480 - 500 as well, to take in everything possible from Naruto Shippuuden. Otherwise, there is another movie that I spontaneously thought of "The Last: Naruto - The Movie" on which you can also respond and divide it into parts. But watch the movie after Naruto Shippuuden to avoid spoilers.

There is a Naruto movie that is really worth watching that gives more information about Kaguya's clan. In the anime, the creators didn't have time and somehow squeezed the story in between.

Lastly , they’ve mentioned the sage of six paths PLENTY of times but I believe kaguya’s story was just a way to kill madara and explore the origin of chakra since they’ve never really said where chakra comes from

One Piece is like 99% main story, and if you wonder why are so many episodes it's because worth watching all of them. alot of fun and tears!

the reason nobody is talking about kaguya is that in the manga her whole plot came out of nowhere, there was so reason or hints for it and it came and go very very fast(unlike the anime which added fluff and fillers to expand her and her sons as characters) so manga readers didn't even get the chance to be invested in her unlike madara and tobi which were the focus since basically earlier shippuden and also it is the weakest part of the manga and people felt back in the day that her plot was nothing more than trying to prolong the story under pressure from shounen jump editors so it came out unnatural and forced
