Kakuzu has fought the 1st Hokage and has lost as it seems (would also be funny if the 1st Hokage had lost against him) so he has a lot of fighting experience which is why he had good chances against Kakashi not like Hidan who does not think and just attacks.

You said you didn’t know he could run with the shadow but if you remember last ep hidan was running and attacking kakuzu whilst under shadow possession so yeah you can run with the shadow lol
