The girl at the end is the other rookie they were talking about. In episode 4 the silver eagles captain told her, her existence is a mistake.

The character showed at the end of the episode is not Gauche's (the sister complex guy) sister, the photo he showed asta shows that his sister looks to be between 5 to 7 years old, the girl at the end of the episode is the sister of one of the other magic knight captain's, if you remember, she was introduced in episode 4 when her brother stopped her from participating in the magic knights entrance exams.
