One correction Suzy, Danzo did not put the leaf village first. He put it second behind his own selfishness and hunger for power. Would like to also say about Orochimaru. He treated Kabuto much much better than Danzo treated any of his subordinates. Kabuto was not deceived by orochimaru. Orochimaru told him exactly what he wanted to accomplish and Kabuto wanted to go along with it because he really had no one else who would awknowledge him that he was aware of. If he tried going back to the orphanage, the foundation would have killed him once they found out. He couldn't just go back to the leaf. He could not go to any other village. Orochi was all he had and Orochi treated him for like a son than a servant.

I do like Danzo. Even tho his ways are wrong. He just wants the best for his people.

Honestly, many of the Naruto villains wouldn't exist if danzo didn't exist. I really wish he had suffered a more painful death
