The next episodes finally build up tension again
the comments are such aids, they don't even talk about the episode. It's literally always foreshadowing or spoilers. Disabling comments for naruto reactions is not a bad idea tbh.

Shikamaru is the MVP. If the other teams fought with Hidan and Kakuzu then they'd surely die also if it wasn't for him the whole team won't be able to do anything because they already panicked when they saw that Asuma is under Hidan's curse.

Just a fun piece of trivia about the other 2 guys with Shikamaru/Asuma, they were first shown back in the Chunin Exams, they were briefly disguised as being younger ninja and blocking the entrance into the written exam until Sasuke confronted them
I always thought, why the other two ninjas didn't go there after Shikamaru's explanation and kicked Hidan or something, sure, Asuma would receive the same, but its nothing to him, Hidan would fell far from the ground mark... What if Shikamaru's shadow possession didn't make it? Kakuzu wouldn't interfere...
This episode was an excellent showcase to why Shikamaru is incredible!
I don't think this counts as a spoiler, so I'm just going to say that I can't wait to see this fight end; for those who've already seen it, you know why.

Hidan's jutsu might not be the strongest and has lots of flaws, but it's really REALLY terrifying. I mean, try to imagine the despair and hopelessness of the victim when he sees Hidan stabbing himself and he/she can do nothing about it.
Whoever said the next few episodes are "amazeballs" is toying with your emotions.
