Great reactions, Suzy 🔥. Glad you love the soundtrack, I've seen tons of anime over the years and it's still my favorite anime ost by far. The composer Shiro Sagisu is simply a genius.
"the show makes you think characters are gonna die" It's understandable that you would say this. Keep in mind, though, that around episode 9-ish it was stated that Soul Reapers are much much harder to kill than normal human beings. They are classified as souls and are not human. Not to say that a soul reaper wouldn't immediately die from something like being stabbed through the heart or beheaded, but as you have seen it takes much longer for a soul reaper to die of blood loss than a human for example. Renji's life WAS in grave danger though, if Unohana (captain of squad 4) had not bandaged and healed him up he would have died from blood loss for sure.

Ukitake's and Shunsui's incantation scene is so cool. The funny thing about that scene is they did their long-ass incantations just for style points. Every Captain possesses a Bankai (aside from Kenny), and as we know someone who has reached Bankai release can skip the incantation when going into Shikai as Byakuya implied.
Another thing great about this show is that.. no matter what's going on in the story.. its never a dull moment or a boring moment with any character.. I mean it's much better when it involves main characters like ichigo, renji, rukia, orihime, Chad, etc... but even when it doesn't it is still so dang good.. which is why a lot of fights and things are dragged on lol.. because they simply can when they make it this damn good... there are lots of times when there are several fights or scenarios going on at the same time.. making whatever is going on with ichigo last ages longer than it needed to be lol... if I were the makers of the show I'd do the same myself lol... knowing no matter what's going on.. its awesome regardless
