I liked this arc too but tbh when i watched it i didn't even know it was filler but it makes sense. Like he goes through multiple episodes of training, develops a pretty cool combined jutsu with the toad, but he never uses that jutsu ever again. Which knowing that it was a filler makes sense. That's the worst part of fillers; not that it's not entertaining but that what you see basically never happened because no one ever brings it up again.

If the third hokage did not seal Orochimaru’s ability to weave signs then he would have been able to defeat sasuke easily.

Is it my impression or did she cut out various parts of the episode? It didn't show Orochimaru's past talking about the white snake or anything and the scene of Deidara and Tobi capturing the three tails and cannon.

Orochimaru wanted Itachi's power and body when he was on the akatsuki but Itachi was to powerful and could never even touch him.
