Thats not the second half, the second half is way worse.
Edit: okay technically this is the second half and only the last third is crap but it felt like half.

L is a sociopath, does not hesitate or feel guilt after seeing lives being taken and he's also a liar. It's not a spoiler so I'll let you know, Suzy, because this was stated by the author that L is "slightly evil". You won't find the answer anywhere in the series.

Also, is L really better than Light by letting innocent people die? No different than Light killing those FBI agents. Both are willing to let the innocent die for the greater good (in their opinion).

L didn't kill anyone, only uses a scheduled-to-be-killed inmate, who's arrested for sexual assault and murder, to draw out Kira, confines Light and tortures Misa when his deductions are wrong. Not really as insane as Kira's, but he is pretty insane. L is on the side of the Law while Kira is killing for his own rights.
