I'd like to add to this: Madara not only declared war, but specifically the Fourth Great Ninja War. Let's look at the other three. The first war broke out after an alliance was attempted between the newly formed villages. Both the first and second Hokage died in this war. The second war was when the three sannin, Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru gained their title and renown, and led by the third Hokage. The third war is when Kakashi and Obito participated in battle. Minato Namikaze became a hero for his incredible feats in this war, leading to him named as the fourth Hokage, passing over Orochimaru who left soon after as the third Hokage retired ashamed of the lives lost. It is also the war that caused Itachi's pacifism after his father took him to the battlefield when he was four. It has been said previously that the Hyuga affair (Hinata kidnapped by the Cloud when she was 3) and the Uchiha coup de tat would have both led to a fourth war. A final note, In japanese the number "four" can be written to sound like "death", so the series treats it as unlucky. For example, Naruto's transformation doesn't begin to have more adverse effects and altered appearance until the fourth tail, and the fact that the fourth hokage, mizukage and perhaps kazekage died young. So the fact that, however bad the past three wars were, the fourth is set to surpass them all.
I really don't understand why Kakashi should be the Hokage.I do love Kakashi,but I really don't see that he is worthy of being a Hokage.Hokage is suppose to be the best of the best,in which Kakashi is in like ok.
I think the person who is worthy of being Hokage is Naruto (obviously) other than that Shikamaru is a very good candidate.

If people knew or paid attention more about Kakashi, then they would've understood why he's more than qualified to be Hokage, even without the Sharingan. His skills, experience, and prowess are better than Shikamaru, but both have comparable intelligence.
Everyone forgets that kakashi became a jonin without the sharingan...he is skilled ...just because his chakra levels r low doesn't mean he can't fight...his main strength is versatility in jutsu and razor sharp intellect...shikamaru is the same but has a lot less battle experience and also doesn't have jutsu that will always be enough to defeat an opponent on his own...he will need comrades around him to do that....kakashi can take down opponents alone like he used to do in the anbu...i think kakashi is better off without the sharingan...the sharingan depleted his already low chakra reserves anyway
