It's almost like people grow up, mature, and change. Yes, kid Kakashi wasn't likeable as much, but he grew into the Kakashi we love. Character development. He's the sasuke that could have, but didn't turn bad

Gai 8 gates vs madara is what made him one of the most badass character in naruto. It is boind to happen. They're not gonna end the series without showing the true power of the 8 gates after teasing it for so long. I didn't care for gai before but that fight was epic.
