It kind of did feel like vengeance in a way because he literally shortened his life just to do it. I guess it made his job easier so they can't pursue him but still.

I got an email this morning saying that my VIP purchase was renewed but it says im not a VIP and when i try to put in my card information it wont process, is it a problem on my end?

Pain isn’t going after revenge. If he were, he could just go to every village and destroy them himself. He already has the power to do that.

The destruction he wants to cause with the tailed beasts is to scare everyone to peace. The only reason he destroyed the Leaf now was because he needed the Nine Tails.

From another perspective pain is the good guy and the leaf are the villains, just because Naruto is the main character we feel we automatically have to take his side.
